Water damage shows up in three layers — the underlying drywall (swollen, soft, sometimes mouldy), the previous paint film (blown, blistered, peeling), and the visible stain (yellow or brown rings, especially on ceilings). We address all three. Compromised drywall is cut out in clean rectangles and replaced with new sheets, taped, mudded and sanded. Stable but stained drywall is sealed with a high-build stain-blocking primer (BIN, KILZ, Zinsser Cover Stain) so the stain doesn't bleed through.
Once the substrate is sound and primed we skim-coat to a level-4 or level-5 smooth finish — critical on ceilings, where any low-angle light will throw a shadow on the patch otherwise. Two coats of premium ceiling or wall paint go on last, feathered into the surrounding area so the repair is invisible.
We don't do the actual leak repair (plumbing, roofing, restoration drying) — those need a licensed trade and ideally an insurance-approved restoration company. But we coordinate cleanly with your insurance scope and pick up the cosmetic work the moment the leak is fixed and the cavity is dry.
