Freshly refinished kitchen cabinets in a Vancouver home

Cabinet Refinishing

Cabinet Painting & Refinishing in Vancouver

A full kitchen renovation in Vancouver runs $40,000–$80,000+. Professional cabinet refinishing delivers the same wow factor in under two weeks for a fraction of the cost — no demolition, no plumbing changes, no eating takeout for a month. Done properly, the finish is genuinely indistinguishable from new factory cabinets.

Cabinet painting is the most demanding refinishing work we do — and the easiest to get wrong. Brushed-on wall paint over greasy oak doors will peel within a year. We do it the right way: doors and drawer fronts are labelled and removed, transported to our spray shop, and finished in a controlled, dust-free environment so the result is glassy-smooth.

The boxes stay in your kitchen, where we mask every surrounding surface, deep-clean cabinet faces with a degreaser, sand to break the existing finish, and apply a bonding primer specifically formulated for kitchen substrates — laminate, MDF, oak, maple, cherry, thermofoil. Then we spray two to three coats of premium urethane-acrylic cabinet enamel — the same product category factory cabinets are finished with — for a hard, washable, chip-resistant finish that won't yellow or peel like cheap latex.

We can match any colour: crisp modern white, warm off-white, deep moody navy, sage green, charcoal, even natural-look stains. New hinges and hardware can be installed at the same time, and we'll fill old hardware holes when you're switching from knobs to pulls. Most Vancouver kitchens are completed in 7–10 days from drop-off to re-install.

Vancouver kitchens come in every era and finish — original 70s oak in East Van, 90s honey maple in Burnaby, builder-grade thermofoil in Coquitlam townhomes, and white shaker in newer Kits and Mount Pleasant builds. We've refinished them all and know which primer and enamel system each substrate needs.

FAQ

Cabinets painting questions, answered

How much does cabinet painting cost in Vancouver?

Most Vancouver kitchen cabinet refinishing projects run $3,500–$7,500 depending on the number of doors and drawers, prep complexity, and whether we're installing new hardware. We provide fixed quotes after a quick in-home visit.

How long will refinished cabinets last?

With our urethane-acrylic enamel and proper prep, expect 8–12+ years of factory-grade durability. The finish is washable, chip-resistant, and won't yellow.

Can you paint laminate or thermofoil cabinets?

Yes — we use a bonding primer specifically formulated for non-porous substrates like laminate, melamine and thermofoil. The result holds up the same as on wood doors.

Do I need to empty my cabinets?

Yes, please empty all cabinets and drawers before we start. We'll mask off the boxes and protect surrounding surfaces.

Can I still use my kitchen during the project?

Mostly yes. Doors are off-site for spraying, but you can use the cabinet boxes and counters for several days during the project. We'll co-ordinate the schedule with you.

Do you do colour matching?

Yes — any Benjamin Moore, Sherwin-Williams or Para colour, plus colour-matched samples from photos or fabric. We'll bring drawdowns so you see the exact finish before we spray.
