Color Consultation

Color Consultation in Vancouver, BC

Choosing paint colour for a Vancouver home is harder than it should be — the city's grey winter light, north-facing rooms, and shifting sun position all change how a colour reads on the wall. Our colour consultation is included free with every painting project, and stand-alone consultations are available too.

A colour that looks perfect on a 2-inch chip can look completely wrong on a full wall — different size, different sheen, different light. We bring large 11×14 brushed drawdowns to your home and tape them up on the actual walls, in the actual rooms, so you see the colours in morning, afternoon and evening light before any paint gets ordered. Vancouver's heavy grey winter light makes this step doubly important.

Whole-home palettes need to flow. Open-concept Vancouver homes — Yaletown lofts, Kits laneway houses, Mount Pleasant character homes — read the kitchen, dining and living all at once, so the colours have to relate. We build palettes of 3–5 wall colours, 1–2 trim/ceiling colours, and 1–2 accent colours that work together and never clash sightline-to-sightline.

We work primarily in Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams collections — Aura, Regal Select, Cashmere, Emerald — and recommend resale-friendly neutrals when you're prepping to list, or bolder, more personal palettes when you're staying for the long haul. Stand-alone consultations are $200–$400 depending on home size, and credited back if you book the painting project.

Local relevance

Built for Vancouver homes & weather

Vancouver light is unique: low winter sun, heavy grey skies, long blue evenings, intense summer south-light. Colours that work in Toronto or LA often fall flat here. Our local experience means we know which whites stay warm in November and which greys go purple at dusk.

FAQ

Color Consultation painting questions, answered

Is the colour consultation really free?

Yes — included with every painting project we quote. Stand-alone consultations (no painting attached) are $200–$400 depending on home size, and that fee is credited back if you later book the painting.

What paint brands do you specify?

Primarily Benjamin Moore (Aura, Regal Select) and Sherwin-Williams (Cashmere, Emerald) — both premium low-VOC lines we trust to deliver the colour as it appears on the drawdown.

How long does a consultation take?

Single rooms run 30–60 minutes; whole-home palettes take 90–120 minutes on-site, plus follow-up time to finalize the spec sheet.

Can you match an existing colour?

Yes — we colour-match existing painted walls, fabric swatches, magazine clippings or design boards using lab-grade scanners and Benjamin Moore / Sherwin-Williams custom-tint.

Will you help with trim and ceiling colours too?

Always — trim and ceiling colour decisions are just as important as wall colour and are part of every consultation we do.
