Bold dark green feature wall behind a bed in a Vancouver bedroom

Feature Wall Painting

Feature & Accent Wall Painting in Vancouver, BC

A single feature wall does more for a room than repainting all four. The right colour in the right spot anchors the furniture, adds depth, and reads as intentional design rather than DIY. We help you pick the wall, pick the colour, and execute it with a sharp cut line that makes the whole room feel custom.

Choosing the right wall is half the project. The accent wall should be the one your eye lands on when you walk in — usually behind a bed, sofa or media console, or the wall at the end of a sightline. We help you pick it correctly, because a feature wall on the wrong surface ends up reading random and chops the room visually.

Bold dark colours — deep greens, navy, burgundy, charcoal, oxblood — usually need three coats over a tinted primer to hit full saturation without flashing. We always tint the primer to a mid-tone of the topcoat, which dramatically reduces the number of finish coats needed and gives a richer final colour. Cheap shortcuts here always show.

The cut line is everything. We hand-brush the freehand cut where the feature wall meets the adjacent wall, ceiling and trim — tape almost always bleeds with deep colours and pulls finish off the wall when removed. Done by an experienced painter, the freehand cut is sharper, faster and more reliable than any taped line. Limewash, Roman clay and other plaster-look finishes are also available for a softer, more textured statement.

Local relevance

Built for Vancouver homes & weather

Vancouver's grey-day light is famously flattening — the same bold colour reads completely differently in a Kitsilano character home with south-facing windows than in a north-facing North Shore living room. We bring drawdowns to your home and check colours in your actual light at different times of day before any wall gets painted.

FAQ

Feature Wall painting questions, answered

How much does a feature wall cost in Vancouver?

Most single feature walls run $250–$600 depending on size, colour depth and prep needed. Limewash and plaster-look finishes are quoted separately. Free colour consult included.

How do I pick the right wall?

Usually the wall behind your bed, sofa or media console, or the wall at the end of a sightline when you walk in. We help you pick it on-site so it lands as intentional design.

Why do dark colours need extra coats?

Deep saturated colours have lower hide than light colours and flash unevenly without enough coats. We tint the primer to a mid-tone of the topcoat, which dramatically improves coverage and gives a richer final colour.

Do you tape or hand-cut the line?

Hand-cut. Tape almost always bleeds with deep colours and pulls finish off the wall when removed. An experienced painter's freehand cut is sharper and more reliable.

Can you do limewash or plaster-look finishes?

Yes — we offer limewash, Roman clay and other textured finishes for a softer, more sculptural statement than flat paint.

Is your work guaranteed?

Every feature wall project is backed by our written workmanship warranty against flashing, cut-line failure and finish defects.
