Ceilings show every imperfection because of how light grazes across them. The fix is twofold: spray instead of roll wherever possible, and use a true dead-flat ceiling paint that absorbs light instead of reflecting it. Roller stipple, halo flashing and lap marks all disappear when you spray two coats of Benjamin Moore Waterborne Ceiling Paint or Sherwin-Williams ProMar Ceiling — both are formulated for a uniform, no-glare finish.
Yellow nicotine stains, water marks, ghosting around HVAC vents and old smoke damage all need a stain-blocking primer first — usually a shellac-based product that locks the contamination in completely. Skip this and stains bleed through every white topcoat. We always spot-prime first, then full-prime any heavily compromised ceiling before the finish coats go on.
We mask floors, furniture and fixtures with plastic, contain spray with zip walls when needed, and clean up the same day. Most single-room ceilings are done in 4–6 hours; a full home is typically 1–2 days depending on square footage and prep. The room is usable that evening.
