Door Painting

Door Painting in Vancouver, BC

Doors take more abuse than any other surface in your home — every kid, dog, suitcase and grocery bag finds them. Sprayed properly with the right enamel, a refinished door looks factory-new and stands up to years of slamming, scuffing and washing.

Most door-painting failures in Vancouver come from skipping prep — paint applied straight onto a glossy original finish always peels around the handle within a year. We sand every door to break the sheen, fill dings and dents, mask glass and weatherstripping, then prime with a true bonding primer rated for slick urethane and oil-based originals. Only then do we spray a urethane-acrylic enamel that levels glass-smooth and cures rock-hard.

Front doors are their own project. Vancouver's wet winters and UV-heavy summers chew through cheap exterior paint in 2–3 years. We use Benjamin Moore Command or Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane Enamel — exterior-rated, UV-stable, fade-resistant — and back-prime any bare wood so moisture can't lift the film from underneath. Bold front-door colours are a Vancouver specialty and we'll help you nail one that flatters your siding and trim.

Interior doors and closet bi-folds are usually sprayed off-site in our dust-free booth so you get the same finish you'd see on a new build. We remove hinges and hardware, label every door to its frame, and rehang on schedule with the original or new hardware fitted clean.

Vancouver door styles range from heritage four-panel solid wood in Mount Pleasant and Strathcona, to flush hollow-core in 70s East Van builds, to modern flat-slab and 5-piece shaker in new construction across the West Side and North Shore. Each needs a different prep approach — we know what works on each substrate.

FAQ

Doors painting questions, answered

How much does door painting cost in Vancouver?

Interior doors typically run $120–$200 each sprayed off-site (both sides + edges), front doors $250–$500 depending on size, original finish and number of coats. We provide fixed written quotes.

Do you spray doors off-site?

Yes — most interior and closet doors are sprayed in our dust-free booth so you get a true factory finish with no overspray, dust or fumes in your home.

Can you paint over stained or varnished doors?

Yes. We sand to break the sheen, then prime with a bonding primer rated for slick urethane and oil-based originals before two coats of enamel — paint won't peel around the handle.

What paint do you use on front doors?

Benjamin Moore Command or Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane Enamel — exterior-rated, UV-stable, fade-resistant, built for Vancouver's wet-cold-UV cycle.

Will the doors be off for long?

Usually 2–4 days for a full house of interior doors when sprayed off-site. Front doors are typically prepped, primed and finished in a single day on-site.

Is your work guaranteed?

Every door-painting project is backed by our written workmanship warranty against peeling, chipping and finish failure due to application.
